Working As A Mom Doesn’t Make You A Bad Mom

There are too many people who think that being a working mom makes you a bad mom, but it doesn’t. The truth is that there are a lot of different reasons why someone could be a working mom, but they do not have to justify their choices to you. Their choices are their own, and it’s time that we stopped judging people for them and starting offering support where possible. In this article, we’re going to be looking at some of the information surrounding working moms, and giving you some tips that might make you feel a little better if you are one. Keep reading if you would like to find out more.

Work Fewer Hours

The first thing that we’re going to say is that perhaps working fewer hours is the best way to go. If you are struggling as a working mom and you’re not sure which way to go, which way is up and which way is down, then try taking a little step back. It can be tough to balance your career with motherhood, and it’s all about adjusting to find the balance that works for you.

It might mean that you want to reduce your hours a little so that you’re not so overwhelmed, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This doesn’t mean that you are failing at either side of the coin here, it just means that you are finding what is right for you. At the end of the day, you and your kids are what matters the most, so do right by yourself.

Try Something New

If you are not enjoying the job that you were doing previously, or you have lost all love for your job, then you can try something new. Part of the reason that some moms feel bad for working is because they don’t actually like what they are doing which means that they are struggling at home with their kids, to then be stressed out all day about something they don’t enjoy, and then repeat this all over again.

If this sounds like your life then it’s definitely time to make a change. You don’t have to stay in a career that you don’t enjoy, and you are not trapped just because you have kids. You can look at retraining as something completely new or using your transferable skills to do something similar but not the same. There is inspiration all over the internet that you can use, finding options here, there, and everywhere.

You’re A Person Too

What some people seem to forget is that moms are people too. You don’t stop being a person and having needs just because you have had a baby, but society seems to think that this is exactly what happens. The problem with this thought process is that it means the mom’s life should solely revolve around the baby 24/7 for the rest of their life, and that is no way to live. Yes, your kids are important, but so are you.

You should still be able to do the things that you enjoy, and you should still be able to be happy with your choices. It’s nice to have something that is still yours, and if you’re earning money from it, then that’s even better.

Maybe It’s Not A Choice

The last thing that we want to point out is that a lot of working moms do not have a choice but to be a working mom. Some moms have to work just to be able to provide for the people in the house, whether they want to be doing this or not. Yet this isn’t taken into consideration when people make moms feel bad for having a job, but they would also make you feel bad if you didn’t and you were struggling to provide. There really is no winning and absolutely no way to please everyone so it’s going to be all about doing what works for you and your family.

At the end of the day, it’s time that this stigma surrounding working moms comes to an end. You are not a bad mother simply because you work, and anyone who thinks that you are needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror. Nobody knows the circumstances surrounding a working mom, and it doesn’t matter what they are because we all make our own choices. You are not a bad mom for working, and that’s the end of that.
