What I’m Reusing with Baby #2 (+ Items I’m Buying New)
I am officially in the final days of my second pregnancy, (time flies when you already have a toddler) so I have been pulling out all the newborn and infant things we have stored away that we kept from Big Brother!
Kids are not cheap, but they don’t have to be as expensive as companies make them out to be either, you don’t need everything!
I have compiled a list of everything we will be reusing from our first baby and what we bought new. I hope this is helpful!
Items to Re-Use
Bath Tub – we loved our bathtub, the AquaScale – it has a built-in thermometer and scale, I wrote all about it on the blog here.
Stroller/Car Seat – We did keep our stroller and car seat from Reign however we did end up getting gifted a new Stroller/Car Seat combo from EvenFlo so we will be using that one. Car seats do expire so be sure to check that they are still safe!
Baby Carrier – We kept our Infantino baby carrier however more on this below.
Pack and Play – Reign did not like a bassinet so he went straight into his Pack and Play before transitioning into his crib
Crib + Mattress – Reign transitioned to a floor bed at 2 years old because he was climbing out of his crib – his crib is in great condition so we kept it and his mattress! Major money saver here.
High Chair – We kept the high chair, Reign has been on a booster for the last year anyway.
Swing/bouncers/walkers/etc. – these products are used for such a short period that it only makes sense to reuse what you have. No need to upgrade unless your products are damaged, have recalls or are a safety risk
White Noise Machine – We’re going to reuse this as Reign no longer needs it.
Books + Toys – We did keep a small amount of books and toys that Reign loved as a baby.
Clothing + Blankets – We are having a girl this time around so we are buying new clothing however I would have used the hand-me-downs for a boy for sure! We saved a few swaddle and plush blankets we will be reusing
Items to Buy New
Bedside Bassinet – Reign never liked his standard bassinet so we did get rid of it early on, I will be trying the bedside bassinet this time around for convenience!
Pacifiers – Reign never took one, we don’t really plan on introducing one but like to have a couple “just in case”
Bottles – Don’t shoot the messenger here mamas but if using plastic, a safe rule of thumb is to replace bottles every 4 to 6 months. So of course, we will be buying new ones and did not save these. But here’s a tip: If you register on Target, Amazon, Walmart, etc. the Welcome bags/boxes that they give you usually include a pacifier or two. We scored 5 for free!
Diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream – all the diapering essentials.
Baby Monitor – We still use a camera in Reign’s room so we are getting a second one for the new baby
Wagon – Not necessary but Reign is no longer in the stroller so a double stroller isn’t an option for us, so a wagon would be a great help for us on our walks and theme park days for when he needs a rest
