Epic Minecraft Party

Minecraft is all the hype so it wasn’t a surprise that my child chose a Minecraft theme for his 7th birthday party! I got a lot of tips on how to pull off an epic Minecraft birthday party from other moms on the Internet, so I’m returning the favor here with ALL the details on how I did this. Also, for those of you out there who are time-crunched like me, please know that I pulled this off by myself in about 24 hours (sans the invitations which were sent last month). Yes, I confess that I started working on the birthday party the DAY BEFORE. Am I a bad mom? No, just a really busy mom!

The Candy Bar

We picked foods you could find in Minecraft. I got most of the ideas for the food online (thank you to all who posted your party ideas). Here’s what we had on our candy bar:

  • Lava = Rolos
  • Iron = Kisses
  • Slime Balls = Green gumballs
  • Sticks = Pretzel sticks
  • Raw fish = Swedish fish
  • TNT = Twizzlers
  • Dirt = Peanut butter fudge balls (brownies work too!)
  • Cookies = Cookies

Drinks were mini bottles of water and Creeper juice which was green berry rush juice. I printed the creeper face on clear sticker paper and placed them on clear plastic cups.

Decorations

We hung a “happy birthday” backdrop and added a green string curtain behind it to make it pop and got a themed tablecloth, I blew up the colored balloons (I couldn’t find brown balloons so we went with gold) and stuck them up across the curtain, I created the 2 side balloon bouquets and had Party City put helium in them to make them float.

  • Tablecloth = Amazon
  • backdrop = Amazon
  • creeper balloons = Walmart
  • Balloons = Party City/Walmart

Nether Portal

This was handcrafted with the birthday boy at about 10 pm the night before LOL.

Materials:

  • Black poster board
  • Black crepe paper streamer
  • Purple crepe paper streamer
  • Nether Portal printables
  • Tape

We cut the streamer paper to fit the doorway and taped it to the back of the poster board. We used these printables for the words.

Jiaire LOVED his party, and so did his friends! I was so happy to have made his birthday party dreams come true! He wanted to do a NERF war outside for entertainment so his daddy planned that for him and he had a blast!!
