How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
This was hands-down our favorite spot as a family. Think Viking villages, adorable dragons, and lots of areas where little ones can just be little—climbing, splashing, exploring. The rides here are gentle enough for younger kids but still exciting enough to keep older siblings happy too. It’s a great place to let everyone roam a bit and enjoy some open space between big attractions.

Food & Snacks:
- Café L’air De La Sirène – A beautifully themed café with pastries, drinks, and lighter bites. Perfect for a mid-day break.
- Le Gobelet Noir – Dark and moody in theme, but filled with cozy, hearty dishes (think: roasted meats, stews, and fresh-baked bread).
- Bar Moonshine – A gothic-style tavern with kid-friendly options like butterbeer and themed slushies, plus grown-up refreshments for parents.
Celestial Park – Space to Breathe and Explore
Celestial Park is the heart of Epic Universe—and honestly, it’s a mom favorite. It’s beautiful, open, and full of greenery, water play, and wide paths that make it easy to explore with a stroller. Think of it as the perfect in-between space: fun enough to keep the kids engaged, but calm enough to reset and slow down when you need a breather.
Rides:
- Stardust Racers – A thrilling dual-launch coaster that races across the sky with interstellar views.
Minimum height: 48″ (Great for tweens and older kids who love a fast ride.) - Constellation Carousel – A gentle, glowing carousel with celestial-themed creatures.
No height requirement – babies can ride too if they can sit up on their own!
(It’s seriously beautiful, especially at night when it lights up.)
Interactive Fun and Shows:
- Astronomica – A splash pad-style water play area with interactive fountains that respond to movement and sound. It’s sensory fun at its best!
(Bring water shoes or quick-dry clothes—your kids will not resist running through it.)

- Atlantic – Upscale yet family-friendly, with ocean-inspired dishes and a calm, air-conditioned setting.
- The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant – Great for adventurous eaters or families who love Asian flavors (noodles, dumplings, rice bowls).

Pro Tip: Look out for character meet-and-greets and interactive play areas hidden throughout the park.

Dark Universe – For Brave Kids!
Okay, hear me out—this land is themed around classic monsters like Frankenstein, but it’s cooler than creepy. My 4-year-old was completely fine, and loved the Curse of the Werewolf ride, but only you know your kids! While some rides might have height limits, the land’s atmosphere is still fun to explore with kids.
Rides:
- Curse of the Werewolf – A family coaster with creepy-cool storytelling and just the right amount of thrill.
Minimum height: 40″ - Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment – This is the headliner attraction and brings you face-to-face with Universal’s legendary monsters in a high-energy, immersive ride.
Minimum height: 48″
🛑 May be too intense for younger kids—think dark settings, loud noises, and jump-scares.
Character Meet-and-Greets:
- Frankenstein’s Monster – Surprisingly friendly (and a hit with the selfie crowd!).
- The Bride of Frankenstein – Elegant and eerie—she’s amazing for photos.
- Ygor (Frankenstein’s assistant) – Quirky, fun, and always up for a laugh.
- The Invisible Man – Often seen “floating” around—you’ll know him by his signature wrappings and glasses!
Interactive Fun:
- Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience – Kids (and adults!) can transform into ghouls and monsters with movie-style makeup. Packages range from $45–$169 (+tax), and the results are incredible. (Plan ahead: reservations or early walk-ups are recommended.)
Food & Snacks:
- Das Stakehaus – A rustic, hearty dining experience inspired by classic monster lore. Enjoy steak and grilled meats, perfect for refueling after a thrilling ride or a spooky adventure!
- The Burning Blade Tavern – A tavern that specializes in fiery dishes and cocktails (don’t worry, there are kid-friendly options too). Great for when you’re craving something a little more daring.
- De Lacey’s Cottage – A cozy, quaint stop with hearty stews, pies, and comforting soups. A perfect spot for families who want a quieter, more relaxed meal.
Pro Tip: Visit during daylight hours if you’re with little ones—the special effects feel less spooky, and you can get great photos without the darker lighting.
