A Fun Visit to Florida Children’s Museum in Lakeland

We recently had the chance to visit the newly opened Florida Children’s Museum in Lakeland and had a blast! This fantastic new place for learning and playing has everything you’d expect from a children’s museum and more.

It’s got areas for toddlers to play, dress-up fun, career play, technology zones, stop motion animation, a green screen film area, a music room, a STEM building, outdoor play spaces, and even a gigantic 100-ft climbable alligator named Blinky! All of this can be found in a whimsical, brand-new facility spanning 47,800 square feet in Bonnet Springs Park.

Downstairs is home to the Watermelon Seeds exhibit aimed at the younger kiddos, there is a climbing area, a crawling area for babies, and fun sensory activities. You will also find the Design Park exhibit on the ground floor where there are lots of design and engineering activities.

Upstairs is where the model city room is located, a child-sized version of a real city that taught the kids how to buy groceries, pick and clean oranges, work on a farm or in a vet hospital, and an area that taught kids how to call for an emergency. There were also model police cars and fire trucks, making it easy to practice storytelling and imaginary scenarios.

The music room was a huge hit for my toddler, there are drums, and percussion instruments galore and a room to play them in to keep the noise down for the rest of the guests! TBD Gallery is inspired by the TikTok generation and has a green screen room to create your own videos as well as a stop motion lab.

Outside, their “Blinky the Alligator” playground just opened. It is a very cool-looking playground shaped like an alligator where kids can climb up and run free!

They also offer out-of-school camps, summer camps, daily programs, homeschool workshops, awesome birthday parties, and exciting field trips.

There is truly so much to do for a variety of ages there is something for everyone here! I hope you love the Florida Children’s Museum as much as we did.
